Welcome!
This website is for those interested in the Cheoy Lee 55 Trawler, which is a classic pilot house trawler designed by Charles Wittholz and built during 1975 to 1986.
Cheoy Lee started building ships in 1870 at Po Tung Point in Shanghai. Because of world events, the company moved in the mid-1930s to Hong Kong, which at that time was a British territory. By the mid-1950s Cheoy Lee started producing teak sailing and motoryachts, mostly for export to the U.S. For an interesting look at some of Cheoy Lee's most notable shipbuilding projects, click here.
